Renewal Tea

After a difficult week, it ended with a surprise. Renewal. The circle of life continues.

One of my buddies is now a grandparent. A little girl! How delightful! A new baby is always a blessing.   I have almost finished knitting the baby blanket and will deliver it this week. How exciting!

Another dear friend who had moved away emailed to say she is expecting and due in November. What a very happy surprise! Not only a new baby, but that they were kind enough to share they joy with me!
I will make sure this honorary grandmother creates some appropriate gifts for the new baby boy.

So here is the thing. Don't events always come in threes? Who is the third baby? Last week, losing someone too young, to cancer, was tough. This week the universe has sent hope and renewal. It is such a blessing to be alive. New life allows me to tuck any sadness, grief, or depression away into a back corner, hidden from view. I can take it out from time to time but it does not need to be front and center. It doesn't need any attention or special treatment. Remember in order to be happy, we need to know what sadness is. In order to enjoy a good night's sleep, we need to know what it is like to be tired. Contrast in all things creates interest and excitement. Without contrast, life would be boring.

Look for ways to create your own contrast. Accept unexpected invitations. (Yesterday's was a walk and an ice cream cone). Share your joy, comfort friends, smell the roses and the honeysuckles!
